Part 2/7:
In southern Madagascar lies Anja, characterized by towering granite cliffs that rise approximately 500 meters. This natural habitat serves as a warm retreat for ring-tailed lemurs, who begin each day by basking in the sun after a cold night. These family-oriented creatures live in small, hierarchically organized groups led by females, while single males strive to elevate their status within the social structure.
The lemur oasis of Anja was shaped thousands of years ago when a massive earthquake broke apart the mountain, creating a vast landscape filled with boulders and a unique botanical ecosystem due to increased humidity. As the lemurs venture out for food, they also remain vigilant against potential threats—like the stealthy Dumeril's boa, which lurks in their habitat.
