Part 6/10:
The expedition takes a turn as Behrend and his crew embark on another journey along the coast in search of monk seals. These seals are incredibly rare, with vagrant populations on the brink of extinction in the Mediterranean. With the help of marine biologist Vassilis Kouroutos, the team seeks to install a remote camera in a known monk seal habitat—a risky venture, as disturbing these creatures can have dire consequences.
Days spent searching yield frustration, but also glimpses of hope. Upon discovering a solitary monk seal, the team reevaluates their filming techniques to avoid scaring the enigmatic animal away. It becomes evident that filming monk seals is both a matter of timing and location, as their natural habitats become scarcer due to human disturbance.
