Among the most resilient of the Caprinae is the musk ox, often confused with bison due to their formidable appearance. Equipped with an insulating layer of thick, curly wool and guard hairs that can reach one meter, musk oxen endure the icy darkness of their arctic homeland for six months of the year.
Their social structure plays a pivotal role in their survival. When threatened by predators like wolves, musk oxen demonstrate teamwork by forming protective circles with mothers and lambs at the center, ensuring safety through unity.
