The story begins far from Earth, on the doomed planet Krypton, where a looming crisis forces parents to protect their children by sending them to safer worlds.

The Great Escape from Krypton

As catastrophe engulfs Krypton, Cara and her brother Kalal are placed into escape pods by their desperate parents. While Kalal's pod successfully reaches its destination—Earth—Cara's pod is struck by radiation and lands on a desolate planet that distorts time. As a result, Cara's growth is stunted; she remains a child while Kalal matures into Superman, the planet's iconic protector.
