Part 2/8:
The story opens with Julia, a determined journalist, interviewing Mr. Torres, a Venezuelan citizen who reveals the distressing situation in his country. Starvation and death are commonplace as the economy crumbles, marked by a shocking inflation rate of 1,200%. Mr. Torres criticizes both former President Chavez and the current President Maduro for their damaging decisions, particularly their exploitation of the nation’s oil resources. Troublingly, despite U.S. sanctions imposed in 2017, oil production has paradoxically increased, hinting at deeper, more insidious dealings between the Venezuelan government and foreign interests.
