Michelle's departure from Broadway in 2018 was particularly challenging. She had checked herself into a treatment facility for depression, an act of courage that ultimately led her to step away from the role she had been excited to take on in Once on This Island. “To me that was two blows in the same year,” she explained, reflecting on both her journey through mental health challenges and the end of her involvement in the production.
This tough experience left her doubting her future in theater, but as fate would have it, she received a call six years later that would change everything: an offer to return to Broadway and originate a new role, marking a new chapter in her career.
