One evening, while watching an old film with his mother, Conor confronts the unwelcome memories of fear that he has been trying to suppress. That night, amidst his creative expression through painting, he encounters a terrifying monster born from the dark yew trees standing close to his home. Rather than flee from the creature, Conor chooses to confront it, offering up his strength to protect his ailing mother.
The monster reveals its intention to visit Conor regularly, sharing three stories that hold significant meaning while demanding a secret from him in return. Initially reluctant to engage, Conor’s fear transforms into an unexpected companionship as he learns that the monster’s tales will help him make sense of the complexity of human emotions—painful, yet necessary for growth.
