As he rushes to extinguish the flames, exhaustion overwhelms him, and he collapses, revealing Iris—a young girl abandoned and distressed—hidden beneath the sink. With no means to summon help, Augustine finds himself thrust into the role of her caretaker. Struggling to communicate with the silent child, he finds solace in Iris's resilient spirit, symbolized by her drawing of an iris that hints at her name.
