As they learn to navigate their unique circumstances, Gu’s grief and determination drive her to seek wealthy suitors in hopes of financing her dream house. She experiences a series of unsuccessful dates, awkwardly presenting her expectations and ultimately encountering a scammer who vanishes with her money. Meanwhile, Lu Ming, oblivious to Gu’s struggles, finds himself embroiled in the corrupt corporate dealings of his CEO, encountering moral dilemmas that challenge his character.
Their stories intertwine as Gu lies about her financial status to impress her childhood friend who has married into wealth. In a desperate attempt to maintain the façade, she ropes Lu Ming into posing as her rich husband during a dinner that ultimately leads to embarrassment.
