The Best African Music Performance category, which was introduced only a year ago, has quickly become a focal point for celebrating African talent on an international stage. Last year, this award was claimed by South African sensation Tyler, renowned for her hit single "Water." This year, however, Tems outshone her competitors, which included notable Nigerian artists such as Yemi Alade with “Shak” featuring Wizkid, Chris Brown's “Sensational” featuring Davido, and Burna Boy's “Higher.”
