Understanding How Cranberry Works
Dr. Schusterman notes that one of the probable reasons cranberry products could be beneficial is due to a compound known as PACs, or pro-anthocyanidins. These compounds may inhibit the adhesion of E. coli, the bacteria most often responsible for UTIs, to the bladder wall, thus potentially reducing the likelihood of infection.
