Despite her health challenges, the influence of Roberta Flack can still be felt in the world of music. Over her illustrious career, she accumulated 14 Grammy nominations and won five awards, including the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 and back-to-back Record of the Year wins. Her musical accomplishments also include six top 10 pop hits and ten top 10 R&B singles, many of which she recorded in collaboration with the talented vocalist Donny Hathaway.
Flack's most enduring contribution to the music industry remains her classic tracks. Even more than two decades after her breakout, she was introduced to a new audience when The Fugees released a Grammy-winning cover of "Killing Me Softly" in 1996, bridging the gap between generations of music lovers.
