Each event had its own hurdles, from training constraints because of COVID-19 to the emotional toll of losing her father shortly before her Olympic journey. He was her fervent supporter, and his absence during her races was palpable. However, Mariana credits him with being her source of strength, instilling in her a sense of resilience that propels her forward.
As she competes, she feels an intrinsic connection to her father, believing he is with her in spirit, guiding her through every lift and every match.
