The War of the Last Alliance, occurring at the end of the Second Age, saw the unification of Elves and Men against the formidable forces of Sauron. This alliance, however, faced incredible odds. Despite their eventual victory, the One Ring's survival meant Sauron's spirit endured, signaling a protracted conflict ahead.
Following the defeat of Sauron during the Second Age, the Numenoreans, led by Elendil and his sons, Aratar and Anarion, established new kingdoms in Middle-earth, namely Arnor in the north and Gondor in the south. However, Sauron’s spirit claimed survival and he began plotting his vengeance against the Numenoreans.
