Assembling the Cake
Once the cake cools, you’ll want to soak it with a rich chocolate syrup. For this, mix cocoa powder with a bit of hot milk and then combine with the rest of the milk until you achieve a suitable pouring consistency. Adding sugar can help balance the bitterness if you prefer a sweeter result.
Now, cut the cake in half horizontally. Place the bottom layer back into the pan, moisten it with the syrup, and spread the coconut filling generously atop. Place the other half on top and repeat the soaking process to ensure a moist cake.
Finishing Touches
For the ganache, melt semi-sweet chocolate with cream, stirring until it becomes a velvety mixture. Allow it to cool before pouring it over the assembled cake for a shiny, appealing finish.
