Paulo Turra began his professional journey as a defender for Caxias in Rio Grande do Sul before moving on to other clubs, including Palmeiras, Boavista, and Vitória Guimarães in Portugal. He played for eight clubs overall, during which he showcased not only his defensive prowess but also the ability to score goals, particularly with his head. Reflecting on player development, Turra noted that today's aspiring footballers have access to superior resources and tools relative to his playing days, making the pathway slightly less daunting, albeit still competitive.
