Transitioning into coaching, Turra had noteworthy experiences as an assistant under the highly respected coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, affectionately known as Felipão. He first joined Felipão’s staff in China and later transitioned with him to the Atlético Paranaense in Brazil. Turra recalled the challenges of stepping into the shoes of assistants and earning respect in such a storied coaching environment plagued by pressures associated with working beside a five-time World Cup champion.
Turra's tenure as Felipão's assistant proved fruitful; they secured multiple titles including the Chinese Super League and the Supercopa. The trust and confidence instilled in him by Felipão paved the way for his own head coaching opportunities in Brazil.
