As decades turned to centuries, sporadic attempts to reclaim Moria were made, notably by Balin in T.A. 2989. Though initially successful for five years, Balin’s domain was ultimately crushed by renewed Orc forces, leading once more to solitude within the haunted halls.
After the War of the Last Alliance, the Dwarves encountered substantial losses, but with the fall of Sauron and the destruction of the One Ring, hope flickered anew. The dwarves under Durin VI managed to reclaim their ancestral home, reviving the once-vibrant community and rebuilding the forges that resounded with their craftsmanship again.
