In contrast, Nenya—the Ring of Water—fortified Galadriel's lands, Lothlórien, enhancing their beauty while subtly heightening her longing for the sea and her home in the Undying Lands, subsequently diminishing her joy in Middle-earth. This longing and sadness were compounded by the nature of the rings, which could enhance a wielder's abilities to leave a more profound impact on their surroundings.
Vilya, the Ring of Air, bestowed unique powers upon its wielder, Elrond. Though Tolkien left some details ambiguous, it was theorized that Vilya had the ability to strengthen and rejuvenate Rivendell more than the other rings could accomplish.
