One of the most profound impacts of AI will be on the job market. Experts predict that up to 40% of jobs could be displaced by automation in the coming decades. This will require a massive reskilling effort to help workers adapt.
"A lot of jobs that seem a little bit complex - a chef, a waiter - a lot of things will become automated," says Kai-Fu Lee. "We'll have automated stores, automated restaurants."
Beyond employment, AI also raises deep philosophical questions about the nature of intelligence and consciousness. As machines exhibit increasingly human-like behaviors, it challenges our understanding of what it means to be sentient. "I believe in the sanctity of our soul," Lee says. "I believe there's a lot of things about us that we don't understand."
