Rescue personnel were initially hopeful but quickly became fatigued and anxious about the possibility of a despairing outcome. As emotions ran high, the ongoing efforts to locate Pollard took a toll on everyone involved. However, the dedication of the rescue teams was unwavering. The crews from Lier Contracting excavated an area that was more than four times larger than the initial sinkhole, all in an attempt to locate the missing woman.
Following adjustments to their operational strategy, because of further collapses in the mine structure, rescue workers shifted from sending individuals into the mine to employing heavy machinery for the rescue efforts. The desire to preserve safety was paramount, as the mine continued to exhibit signs of instability, complicating the operations further.
