Recovery and Aftermath
Ultimately, after a strenuous journey, Elizabeth Pollard was discovered approximately 12 feet away from the original sinkhole's opening. The efforts to recover her body revealed that she had likely fallen and ended up striking ground comprised of debris, dubbed as resembling "Hershey Kisses."
The completion of these laborious efforts brought a sense of relief to the family of the late Pollard. Much to their gratitude, they were handed the opportunity to find closure despite the deep tragedy of her loss. Andrew Horan reported on the somber event for Channel 11 News, emphasizing the emotional weight of the situation and the resolve displayed by the rescue teams.
