Part 1/8:
Senate Concerns Over Delays in Capital Budgets
The Nigerian Senate has expressed serious concerns regarding delays in the release and utilization of capital budgets, warning that agencies failing to comply with their summons will face zero allocations. During a recent investigative hearing led by Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, it was emphasized that proper expenditure records from government-owned agencies must be provided or funding will be withheld. This hearing has highlighted the apparent discrepancies in financial management within the various agencies, as well as dissatisfaction over the centralized payment system.
