When pursuing a dream, it is vital to protect it against the skepticism of those around us. Many will attempt to downplay our aspirations, often because they are unable to achieve their own. Yet, it is crucial not to shy away from failure. Making decisions—whether right or wrong—fosters growth and learning. One’s belief, or lack thereof, can often dictate the outcomes one experiences.
This dichotomy becomes even clearer when we reflect on the intensity of our desire for success. Many claim to want success, but often they want it only casually, without the deeper commitment that it necessitates. True desire often competes with our more comfortable pursuits, such as leisure and social status.
