At approximately 6:46 a.m., police responded to a 911 call about a person shot. Arriving officers discovered Thompson on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to his back and leg. Emergency medical services transported him to Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:12 a.m. This was especially devastating news for his family, friends, and colleagues, who have been kept informed and are currently processing the tragedy.
