Part 7/10:
Upon reaching Svalbard, Yo notes the stark differences in life among the remote islands: closer to the equator, nature feels more threatened by human presence, while the Arctic hosts a vibrant ecosystem with unafraid wildlife. Visitors are required by law to carry high-caliber rifles for protection against polar bears, creating an interesting juxtaposition of adventure and fear.
Yet, this thrilling escapade goes beyond personal enjoyment. Fueled by a desire to contribute positively to the environment, Yo has developed the idea of using his boat as a platform for research projects. He seeks to give back to the Arctic, a place that provides him with so much joy.
