The Mysteries of the Orthodox Church
The Church's sacraments, often referred to as "mysteries," extend beyond merely numbered rituals. While Western Christianity may settle on a list of seven sacraments, Orthodoxy recognizes an infinite number of instances where the divine intersects with human experience. Here, sacraments are understood as moments where God touches lives, offering grace even outside the liturgical context.
From infant baptism to the active faith nurtured within community, the Orthodox approach emphasizes that understanding does not precede faith. Instead, faith is often supported by the collective belief of the community, fostering spiritual growth in children and adults alike.
