The Nature of Awareness: Sky and Clouds
The instructor uses an analogy of the sky, suggesting our awareness is akin to an expansive sky, while thoughts and emotions can be viewed as clouds. Emotions like panic, disappointment, and loneliness—akin to clouds—are transient and cannot tarnish the fundamental nature of our awareness, which is timeless and always accessible.
The Revelation of Open Awareness
Upon completion of the relaxation and initial meditation, the instructor reveals a pivotal understanding: there is, in fact, no strict second step. The essence of open awareness meditation is about simply letting the mind exist in its natural state.
