At the heart of every emotional hurt is the question: Why are we hurt? The discussion begins with an exploration of the sources of pain. It is highlighted that while physical pain can be inflicted on us by others—be it through physical actions or neglect—mental and emotional pain stems primarily from our own interpretations and reactions.
When someone behaves in a manner we find upsetting, often they are merely acting from their own perspective and motivations. The challenge lies in recognizing that their actions are not necessarily intended to cause us harm; rather, they are enacting their own understanding of the world.
