Traditionally, yoga was entwined with meditation aimed at achieving heightened states of consciousness. Yet, due to the complexities of human nature, individuals found that meditation alone was insufficient for awakening their energies. Gradually, various yoga forms emerged. These include:
Bhakti Yoga: Focused on devotion and love toward the Divine.
Gnana Yoga: The path of knowledge and philosophical inquiry.
Raja Yoga: Centred around the practice of meditation.
Amid this evolution, Hatha Yoga began to focus on the physical body and its energies, leading to the formation of what we now call Kundalini Yoga.
