Participants are encouraged to relax into the stretch, either placing their hands on their belly or reaching overhead, which opens the chest and shoulders. This pose serves not only to initiate the stretching process but also as a moment for practitioners to set an intention for the day, often by focusing on a single word that encapsulates how they desire to feel.
