Using interlacing fingers behind the back, yogis are encouraged to open their chests and raise their elbows, creating space and a sense of expansiveness. This addresses tightness in the upper body while fostering a sense of vulnerability in the heart region.
Thread the Needle Pose
Moving into the tabletop position, the class incorporates Thread the Needle—a pose that targets the shoulders and upper back even more profoundly. With one arm reaching to the sky before threading it beneath the body, participants are reminded to engage their breath, expanding their ribcage while seeking out tension. Both sides are explored, allowing balance and acknowledgment of any imbalances in the body.
