In a related technology development, South Korea has accused Deep Seek of sharing user data with ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. This week, South Korea pulled Deep Seek from local versions of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store due to data protection concerns.
Earlier this month, a U.S.-based cybersecurity company alleged that Deep Seek had potentially shared user data with ByteDance. The South Korean Data Protection Agency reported that while they found a link between Deep Seek and ByteDance, they had yet to confirm what data was shared and to what extent.
