Part 2/7:
Since 2005, IIT Madras has focused on building platforms to enhance its educational reach. One of the notable introductions has been the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), which provides free online courses to learners across India and beyond. This initiative allows individuals from various backgrounds, including those below the poverty line, to access quality education. For instance, over 8,000 government school students from Tamil Nadu are now on the path to becoming IIT Madras graduates.
The Institute's efforts extend to rural education through programs like Vidya Shakti, which has established 1,200 rural interaction centers to provide academic support through technology and promote discussions on higher education.
