Due to the nature of thermal measurements, there can be unwanted heat loss. To diminish this effect, active insulation is employed. The insulation features a heater and dual temperature sensors, allowing for real-time adjustments to ensure equal temperatures on both sides of the insulation. When successfully managed, this condition ensures that any heat flow measured is primarily occurring through the calorimeter, rather than lost to the environment.
