The journey began in 1973, marked by a pivotal report from Warsaw which indicated that palladium and deuterium exhibited a higher transition temperature than palladium with hydrogen – a finding initially dismissed as erroneous. Undertaking a Master's thesis at MIT, the author sought to verify this claim. By 1975, the additional research confirmed the finding, propelling him into the world of superconductivity and setting the stage for a career that would straddle both foundational physics and groundbreaking materials science.
