The initial step in the assembly involves creating the electrode itself, followed by orienting the cell in a vertical position. A felt disc will be placed at the bottom of the cell, which will then be carefully pushed down with a clean instrument to ensure precision. Nickel powder will be measured and filled to a predetermined level within the cell.
Once the nickel powder is in place—at an estimated depth of about two inches—the high voltage electrode assembly will be introduced into the cell. The exact positioning of the electrode, which extends approximately half an inch from the bottom, is vital for optimal function.
