The electrode is designed with specific materials; it features an electrical connection from an external source equipped with a ceramic pass-through. A central nickel electrode is enhanced with a tungsten extension to increase its length. Surrounding this core are two concentric ceramic tubes. Special attention is paid to the spacers, often referred to as donuts or washers, which will provide structural stability by keeping the assembly aligned within the cylindrical steel casing of the cell.
