Next, the author tested a sturdier fan, the Envirofan Gold Line, weighing in at 20.32 pounds. This fan demonstrated a more significant thrust capability, recorded at around 1.035 pounds, equivalent to 470 grams of force. In this part of the exploration, the varying capabilities of ceiling fans came to light, indicating that not all fans are created equal in terms of thrust.
Reversibility of ceiling fans was also considered. As expected, when the Gold Line fan was run in reverse, it added 0.79 pounds to its weight due to the upward airflow, illustrating the physics of air movement and its impact on thrust measurements.
