Reports indicate that between 4,000 to 6,000 tons of sunscreen enters our oceans each year, leading to disaster for coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Harsh chemicals commonly found in sunscreens, such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, and PABA, are particularly problematic. These chemicals are known to cause coral bleaching, disrupt marine life fertility, and even have negative implications on human health, such as hormone disruption and reduced vitamin D absorption.
