Among the most infamous greenwashing cases is that of Keurig’s coffee pods. Initially promoted as “recyclable,” the reality was that most local recycling facilities were ill-equipped to handle such products, resulting in their disposal in landfills. Following consumer backlash, Keurig faced a class-action lawsuit, ultimately leading to a settlement and a revision of their labeling strategy. Yet, the small print that accompanied their claims did little to resolve the fundamental issue of environmental impact.
