As soon as this man exits the hotel, another individual seizes the opportunity to grab the €100 bill. This person is in desperate need, and his immediate thought is to race to the local bakery. He offers up the note to pay off a debt owed for bread delivered the following morning. The baker, grateful to receive payment, takes the note and uses it to settle his own outstanding bill with the miller.

The miller, recognizing he also has debts, then passes the €100 along to a painter. This pattern continues as the painter, too indebted, rushes off to the carpenter in a bid to keep his financial situation under control. The carpenter takes the bill and sprints to a cleaning lady, who is eagerly awaiting a chance to settle her debt to the plumber.
