A person who is actively pursuing a meaningful goal is deemed a success. Conversely, those who drift through life, conforming to societal norms without a clear destination, inevitably face failure.
The Conformity Trap
In our society, conformity often eclipses individuality. People frequently express that they go to work because that is simply what everyone else does, failing to grasp their personal purpose. The affirmation by psychiatrist Rollo May that “the opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity” shines a spotlight on this pervasive issue. It raises the question: why do so many adhere to this conformity?
