Step 1: Crafting the Drums
Begin with the drum track. Start by dragging a kick sound into your Ableton session, followed by layering with a snare. Use command shortcuts to copy and duplicate these sounds, creating a solid kick and snare pattern. The drum section forms the backbone of any track, so experimentation is key here.
Step 2: Adding the Bass
Next, introduce the bass. Create a new MIDI track, select a bass instrument from the Ableton library, and input notes in the piano roll.
Incorporate side-chaining techniques to ensure the bass and kick work in harmony, preventing them from clashing in the mix. This will result in a clear, punchy sound.
