The feud has escalated to the point where De La Hoya has publicly challenged Hearn to a fight, even offering to do it for free as a "gift" to the Saudi authorities. Hearn, however, is not amused, stating that he would only consider the fight if he was paid an eight-figure sum.
Despite the animosity, Hearn acknowledges that he and De La Hoya could potentially work together in the future, as he sees the former boxer as a "legend of the sport." However, Hearn notes that De La Hoya's emotional approach to business can be a hindrance to productive collaboration.
