Part 1/7:
Disney's New CEO Announcement Delayed
Disney has announced that they will not be naming a new CEO until early 2026, over a year from now. The current executive chairman of Morgan Stanley, James Gorman, will succeed Mark Parker as the new chairman of Disney's board.
This is another delay in Bob Iger's departure as CEO. Iger came in as a temporary fix, and many have criticized his performance, but the entire media industry is in flux. Disney's business spans theme parks, merchandise, movies, and television - a very challenging position for any leader. It will be interesting to see what kind of background Disney's next CEO will have, whether it's someone from the TV industry, movie/TV experience, or a more business-focused leader to oversee the company's diverse operations.
