An eventual shift to a location in Costa Rica coincided with the 1987 season, leading some to speculate changes in the manufacturing process resulted in an unforeseen livelier ball. Nonetheless, historical records indicate that balls continued to be produced in Haiti up to 1990, making this theory less tenable.
