The motivations behind a civilization’s desire to remain concealed vary widely. At the core, a species may choose to hide due to xenophobic tendencies, preferring solitude over interaction. However, others may take a more drastic approach for fear of invasion. Such fears are compounded by the acknowledgment that once a civilization contemplates hiding, it may already be too late. In the grand scheme of cosmic physics, hiding effectively proves problematic, especially in a universe that lacks rapid modes of travel.
