In light of possible threats to our safety, a quick response from authorities is expected. However, the reality is that residents are being told to ignore what they see, contrary to the guiding principle established after 9/11, "If you see something, say something." Today, it appears that we are instead being instructed to disregard our observations and accept a narrative of ignorance. This shift has sparked widespread frustration.
Just last night, a resident in my neighborhood shared a video of an unidentified flying object overhead, and yet the official stance remains dismissive. We've now recorded thousands of sightings, yet there are no definitive answers from our local law enforcement or governmental agencies. Staten Islanders deserve clarity about what is happening within our skies.
