Michael, who had been enjoying retirement by gardening, reading, and volunteering at a local library, felt the absence of a significant person in his life after his wife passed away three years prior. His only daughter Sarah lived thousands of miles away in New York, adding to his sense of isolation. It was a conversation with his neighbor Linda that sparked hope; she proposed he meet Christine, a retired nurse also in search of companionship.
